Memorial Programme in Honour of Zubeen Garg
“A Timeless Voice, An Eternal Legacy”
A solemn memorial programme was organised at Little Flower Senior Secondary School on 19 September 2026 to honour the life, music, and enduring legacy of Assam’s beloved musical icon, Zubeen Garg. The programme was a heartfelt gathering of the school community, united in grief, gratitude, and remembrance.
The programme began with a poignant reflection on Zubeen Garg’s belief in humanity and service, followed by a tribute to an artist who was much more than a singer. As the programme reflected on a year without his familiar voice and smile, his absence was deeply felt.
The memorial formally commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. Our respected Principal, Rev. Sr. Sheeba Joseph, and esteemed teacher Madam Urmila graced the lamp-lighting ceremony. The Floral Tribute formed a solemn and heartfelt part of the memorial, as everyone present offered flowers in remembrance of the departed legend. This was accompanied by the soulful rendition of “Mayabini” by the school choir, adding a deeply emotional musical expression to the tribute.
This was followed by a solo musical presentation of “Batore Hekhote” by a Class VI student, reminding everyone that a song can sometimes express what words cannot. Rev. Sr. Sheeba Joseph then addressed the gathering, sharing her thoughts and reflections on the occasion.
The school choir presented another soulful tribute, followed by a heartfelt recitation remembering a voice that may have fallen silent physically but continues to live through music, memories, and the hearts of the people.
An address by respected Madam Minku Moni, on behalf of the entire school, reflected upon Zubeen Garg’s immense contribution to Assamese culture and the generations he touched through his music and humanitarian spirit. The programme concluded with a special musical presentation of “Anamika” by the LFS Orchestra Group, bringing his timeless melodies alive once again.
The memorial ended with a heartfelt vote of thanks to the school authorities, teachers, performers, and everyone present. The final tribute echoed the enduring truth that although no new song may come from him, Zubeen Garg’s voice will never truly fall silent. As long as music continues to echo across Assam, his voice will remain an immortal presence in our hearts and memories.
